How to tighten a wheel correctly

  1. Find the authoritative torque figure for the exact vehicle and wheel.
  2. Inspect threads and seating faces; do not lubricate unless instructed.
  3. Start every bolt or nut by hand to reduce cross-threading risk.
  4. Snug the wheel evenly in the specified diagonal sequence.
  5. Set the wrench and pull smoothly until it signals once.
  6. Do not keep pulling after the click or use the torque wrench for removal.
